Weihenstephan

Weihenstephan is known for being the oldest still existing brewery in the world . In the year 725, a Benedictine monastery was founded on the Weihenstephan . Beer making was started here and, in 1040, the Klosterbrauerei Weihenstephan . In 1803, after having been destroyed over the centuries by the Swedes, French and Austrians, and after having been completely burned down four times, the monastery was closed and passed into the hands of the State of Bavaria. However, the brewery was under the control of the Royal Staatsgut Schleißheim and was able to continue the production of its beer. In 1852 the Bavarian brewing school moved from Schleißheim to Weihenstephan , where this art is still taught today.

Founded in 1397, Spaten (whose name means "spade" ) is today part of the Spaten-Löwenbräu-Gruppe , which belongs to the Belgian multinational InBev . Spaten is considered by many Germans as a beer to cleanse the palate between meals.

Augustiner Keller

The Augustiner Keller is the third largest beer garden in Munich , and is located a short walk from the train station. Open since 1812, it has 5,000 seats in the shade of large and magnificent trees: during the summer months, it is impossible not to stop here and drink a nice freshly poured beer. Here too it is possible to eat typical Bavarian specialties, or you can bring your own food and eat it in the self-service area.
Löwenbräu
(Nymphenburger Straße 2, Munich) Löwenbräu (literally "lion beer") is one of the six historic Munich breweries that produce real traditional Bavarian beer : Löwenbräu respects the standards imposed by the Reinheitsgebot . Inside there is a huge hall called "Festsaal" , capable of hosting more than two thousand people.
Its large beer garden , the Löwenbräukeller , is adjacent to the mother brewery and occupies the site of a brewery destroyed during World War II. The beer garden, located on a tree-shaded terrace, is an unmissable meeting place for many Bavarians. The Löwenbräukeller has around 1000 outdoor seats and there is also a big screen to watch all the major sporting events. The price of a 1 liter mug of beer is approximately 7.80 euros.

Another of the best beer halls in Munich is the Paulaner Bräuhaus . Founded in the 17th century by a community of monks, the Paulaner brewery has become famous throughout the world for the authenticity of its beers, which is still intact today. In 1634, some monks of the order of San Francesco da Paola , guests in the monastery of Neudeck , began the production of a dark and strong beer, which was to be used for their sustenance during the Lenten period. The beer created was so excellent that in 1780 the Court of Bavaria allowed the monks to sell beer: the Paulaner Brauerei , destined to become the largest brewery in Munich .
Hirschgarten
(Hirschgarten, Munich) The Hirschgarten is the largest beer garden in Munich : with around 8,000 seats, the brewery is located inside the Hirschgarten , the deer garden, an ancient hunting lodge commissioned by Prince Karl Theodor in 1780. In fact, in addition to eating and drinking excellent beer, it is possible to closely observe the deer that live in this park.
Bayerischer Donisl
(Weinstraße 1, Munich) Located next to the Munich Town Hall, the Bayerischer Donisl (named after Dionysius Haertl , who managed the place in the eighteenth century) is one of Munich's historic beer halls . The building is decorated in typical German style, functional and without frills, and the atmosphere is that of an ancient tavern, the same as it was 100 years ago. Inside there is the kitchen and several rooms, each furnished differently.

The Chinesischer Turm brewery is located inside the magnificent Englischer Garten , one of the largest city parks in Europe, approximately 15 minute walk from Marienplatz . During the summer it is the favorite place for many young university students who meet here to drink the excellent Bavarian beer. At the self-service kiosk you can taste the main dishes of traditional Bavarian cuisine and listen to live music.

The excellent Augustiner beer , in addition to the parent company, is also served at the Augustiner Bräustuben , adjacent to the brewery and located in Landsberger Straße 19 , with cheaper prices, or also at the Augustiner Klosterwirt ( Augustinerstraße 1 ). The types of beer on tap are: Augustiner Helles, Augustiner Dunkles, Augustiner Edelstoff .
Augustiner
(Neuhauser Straße 27, Munich) The historic Augustiner brewery is the oldest brewery in Munich , founded by Augustinian friars in 1328 near the Munich cathedral. After its privatization, Augustiner-Bräu Neuhauser Straße in 1817 , where the parent company is still located today. The brewery was taken over by the Wagner family in 1829 and was then moved to the cellars in Landsberger Straße (“Kellerareal”) . Heavily bombed during the Second World War, the Augustiner brewery has now returned to its former glory and has been declared a historical monument.
The place is divided into two parts: the actual brewery is located on the left, while the restaurant is on the right. At the back is the classic beer garden .
