#domenicalmuseo: free admission to museums every first Sunday of the month
Italy is a country with an invaluable artistic and cultural heritage that the whole world envies: every city holds small and large masterpieces of art just waiting to be admired and appreciated.
From this year there is an excellent initiative for all those who love art and culture and want to discover how much beautiful Italian museums have to offer.
In fact, Minister Franceschini has instituted “Museum Sunday” : every first Sunday of the month, admission to museums is free, in all art venues and state archaeological sites.
The decree has been in force since 1 July 2014, and has also introduced other innovations, including free admission for under 18s, discounts up to 25 years of age, the Friday evening opening of major museums (for example the Uffizi , the Colosseum and the excavations of Pompeii), which will remain open until 10.00 pm, and every year two "nights at the museum" with evening admission for 1 euro.
It is possible to search for free museums that adhere to #domenicalmuseo connecting to the page of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Mibac) , where it is possible to search by region and by city.
